Considering training at RTC for mission or ministry?
REFORMED THEOLOGICAL COLLEGE
The new intake of students for training at the Reformed Theological College in September 2021 is fast approaching. The men presently at the College have almost finished their course and are looking forward to God’s plan and purpose for their future ministry.
Are you considering training at RTC for mission or ministry? Are you aware of God’s call on your life to serve Him in the pastoral ministry or in mission work in Ireland or France?
If so, your first approach should be to your minister. If he considers that your Christian character and gifts are consistent with such a Call he will arrange for you to be interviewed by your Session. If they are satisfied with your commitment to Christ and His Church, and that you have demonstrated such a commitment at the local level, then they will recommend you to the ‘Oversight of Students Committee’ in your Presbytery.
This Committee will interview you and if satisfied will recommend you to the Presbytery to be taken under its care as a suitable candidate for the Christian ministry. In all normal circumstances this should take place prior to the May 2021 meeting of Presbytery.
Presbytery will then inform the College of the members under its care. Plans will then be made for enrolment at RTC. The course begins with an intensive Greek course to be taught in September by Prof Warren Peel.
There is a pressing need for men for Christian ministry and mission. In the Church in Ireland there are several vacant pulpits and some men in ministry are either beyond retirement age or approaching it. Christ calls the church to make this a matter of prayer:
“pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send labourers into his harvest.” Matt. 9:38
